INCANDESCENT
Incandescent is the most inexpensive and widely utilized form of recessed lighting. Most standard builder homes will have at least some recessed incandescent lighting, with larger can sizes that are minimally 6" in diameter. Although this is the most popular and economical choice, incandescent lighting offers a quality of light that can often be characterized as "yellow" in comparison to halogen. As a potential compromise solution, incandescent cans can often be paired with PAR20 lamping, which somewhat corrects the "yellow" effect of many incandescent fixtures without the necessity of switching out fixture types or the greater investment associated with halogen cans. Halogen bulbs designed to fit incandescent cans also provide a compromise solution when installing smaller halogen fixtures is not an option.
