HALOGEN

Halogen is the preferred lighting choice for recessed cans and should be installed with can sizes no larger than 4" in diameter. Offering a crisp and clean quality of light, halogen lighting introduces illumination that is "white" in color tone versus the "yellow" found with most incandescent lighting. A major disadvantage with halogen lighting, however, lies with its cost and greater heat generated by the lamping. Prior to introducing this beautiful quality of light into your home, it is necessary to determine fixture type (remodel or new construction) to ensure that heat and flammability does not become an issue in your ceiling plenum, where insulation must be considered, or living environment.
